19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his maiden title for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his first trophy after the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt since spring of 2023.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children together, so to get a championship is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

His retrieving approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his ability to perform at the top level was over.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play positively, backed up by an better serving game.

The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the last five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour title, took control to push for a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner secured victory with a point at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
