Devastating Update on UPS Crash: Fatalities Increases to 13

The total count of lives lost due to the freight aircraft that burst into flames and went down has now climbed to 13, as confirmed by recent statements.

Mayor's Announcement

While en route to the Union’s memorial service, I was informed of a thirteenth victim that passed away as a outcome of the aircraft crash,” wrote the local official in a social media post. “My heart is with the loved ones, companions and peers of all who were taken in this week’s disaster. We will overcome this collectively.”

Casualties Named

A release from the carrier listed the flight crew aboard the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our thoughts reach out to every staff member who has been impacted and all in our local community – supporting you and making sure you get the attention and aid you need is our main concern,” the company’s statement stated.

Inquiry Updates

Government investigators announced that the jet’s port side wing burst into flames and an engine separated shortly after takeoff from the airfield, causing the plane to fall and erupt into a blaze.

The NTSB has said it is probing the aircraft’s service record, which was in the state for maintenance a period before the incident.

Flight tracking information revealed the jet was on the tarmac in the Texas city from 3 September to 18 October.

“We are aware that this jet was present in the facility,” remarked an official on Thursday, not giving a specific time frame. “We will examine every piece of repairs that was completed, from the San Antonio period, all the way to the date of the flight.”

Findings of Critical Items

The cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder were recovered, and the engine was found on the runway.

The recorders – known as flight recorders – were built to withstand crash impacts and extreme fire from blazes, and they seemed to be in one piece when located among the wreckage. Officials plan on examining data from the recorders.

Aircraft’s final data recordings showed an altitude of that level and a speed of that speed before the impact.

Maintenance History

According to FAA records dated 18 September, a fracture on a structural piece inside the tank area demanded fixes.

The company ST Engineering, which said it offers structural repairs for UPS’s aircraft and operates a maintenance center in San Antonio, declined to speak, but expressed it would work closely when investigators reached out it.

Services Restart

Meanwhile, the facility operations restarted Wednesday night with its Next Day Air also known as nighttime operation, spokesperson Jim Mayer said. The three landing strips at the aviation hub were also back in operation.

The distribution hub in this location is the organization’s biggest. The facility hires in excess of a large number of people in the region, handles numerous trips each day and organizes in excess of four hundred thousand items per hour.

Public Response

A gathering was held on the late afternoon of recently by the area worker’s group, which supports employees at the Louisville airport, the firm’s biggest freight center.

Worker representatives, which supports UPS workers, started the gathering with a period of reflection at the evening hour, the rough hour of the crash two days earlier.

“This event was so sudden, so surprising,” the leader told the assembly of two hundred. “No one had a moment to bid farewell to any of those who we have said farewell to.”
