Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Officers report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say preliminary tests show the substance was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A senior representative commented the attack rendered him without words and had to be resolved quickly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine people by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
